The Preparatory School, Sherborne, is set in the heart of the town surrounded by gardens and playing fields. The School is very much a family: boarders and day pupils mix easily together and everyone benefits from the wide range of sports and activities on offer outside the classroom.
Academic standards are high with excellent Common Entrance and Scholarship results. Music is also a strong feature of school life with many children achieving very high standards.
There are team fixtures with other schools in all the major games and Sherborne pupils do extremely well. However, not everyone can be a team member and we take care that each child finds a physical activity that he or she enjoys.
Boys and girls at Sherborne Prep. are happy, hard working and busy young people. We see our role as laying a secure foundation from which children will proceed to successful futures in their senior schools.
Parents wanting to visit will be given a warm welcome by Robin Lindsay, the Headmaster.
The Pre-prep Department is housed in a new, specially-designed building. There are 4 groups, nursery (2+) reception (4+) Year I (5+) and Year II (6+), each with their own teacher. Many of the school's facilities are used by these younger children. Nursery children attend either on a full or part-time basis, which allows flexibility according to the child's needs and capabilities.
